"Astroworld" is Travis climbing up to his apex but I still think there is another level he can reach.
There is nothing more exciting than seeing a creative push their bounds and limits. Travis has definitely jumped levels in his production style, incorporating the things that endeared him by many but with also challenging his ear to try for different sounds. This created an atmosphere of feeling pushed, pulled and grabbed by the music to go along on the journey travis wanted you to take.
“This project was definitely one of psychedelic and experimental tastes rather than your standard hip-hop album.”
The thing about Travis that you have to love is that he does not try to be prototypical hip-hop. Along with that he does not make it an issue to try to be, he has chosen his lane as a creative/artist more than a rapper and ran with it. however, with that label comes the challenge of always being innovative in some capacity and refreshing. It is easy for hip-hop to become redundant and every one chase for the same exact sound, but Travis intuitively knows that he can't follow that path. Astroworld serves up a platter of raw artistic expression over anything else.
Travis sets a mood
This album is all about getting you to emotionally involve yourself with it. It compels you to be empathetic with everything travis is going through and discussing on this album, because he finds away through the music, tone of voice, and mood to put you right into the situations he was in. Travis is notifying to wow you with lyricism but he is one of the best at providing an audio experience. This is the thing that Travis does well at such an early part of his artistic career and it only makes me yearn to see just how deep he can take me on a journey with him.
